ZAKAT

Zakat Services at JMCI

Zakat refers to the mandatory collection and distribution of donations from financially capable individuals to assist the less fortunate.

The Quran extensively discusses zakat in over 30 verses, primarily in the Medinan suras. From the Quranic perspective, zakat serves as a means of wealth redistribution, establishing a charity-oriented economy that focuses on supporting impoverished and disadvantaged Muslims. Zakat holds more significance than mere taxation. It is an act of giving with the aim of attaining salvation, as neglecting zakat can have severe consequences. By giving zakat, individuals purify both their wealth and their souls.

The payment of taxes to Muslims, which includes zakat, is also part of the original covenant between God and humankind (Quran 2:83). At JMCI, we have zakat, fitra, and other donation stations conveniently located on our premises.

The Zakat Committee

Since the establishment of JMCI, the Zakat Committee has played a vital role in collecting donations from the community and ensuring their equitable distribution among those in need. Our committee’s mission is to enhance the lives of the less fortunate and bolster community efforts in outreach programs.
